How long will my procedure take?

Depending on the extent of the procedure and unique factors of anatomy, like narrow roots, or a small jaw, the time it takes to perform a successful procedure can vary, but it usually takes between 45 minutes and one hour to complete.

Same-day treatment is available to patients who need to see the dentist immediately. Still, it may take one to two hours to accommodate patients and perform the procedure, depending on circumstances.

Are the Roots Removed during the Procedure?

No. The dentist does not remove the roots during a root canal procedure. The infection is on the inside of the root, in the pulp. During the process, Dr. Fitzhugh will remove the infected pulp tissue, clean the canals, and fill them so that the infection cannot return, preserving the structure and function of the tooth.
